Lots of deer to see
The actual Key Deer Refuge was cool though!
Took us FOREVER to find the Visitor Center- yes, it is in the strip mall. The volunteer behind the counter was very nice but the signage at the trailheads she suggested were not easy to find. We did find the Blue Hole and we're lucky enough to see two alligators. L
Post Hurricane Irma trip to the Keys. I love the Key deer, saw only one but it was mid-day. They are more plentiful at dusk. We tried to eat at No Name Pub, by the deer refuge, but it was too early in the day. Lots of storm debris piles & removal going on. But it will rebound & be beautiful again soon. I wanted to come here to support the Keys now. We were supposed to be in a VRBO house for September in Summerland Key, which was canceled of course. Already rented for next year!
This location is actually the administration office. Search for the visitors center or the Blue Hole if you are looking for some place to start.
Nice trails .
Fly dear and other animal captures to this lovely Refuge.
